Job Title : Manufacturing Controller / Cost Accountant

Schedule : Monday-Friday, in-office position, approximately 7 : 30am - 4 : 30pm
Job Summary :
This position is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing and production costing analysis and inventory as well as managing and performing all accounting operations to include billing, A / R, A / P, GL, Fixes Assets and Revenue Recognition.
This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves position that reports directly to the CFO and indirectly to the business leadership team.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Responsible for oversight of A / P staff
- Must be willing to teach and develop less experienced employees through a hands-on learning experience
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Regular on-site attendance is required.
- Compare standard cost to actual cost and identify and explain variances by customer, part number and production jobs
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve variances and adjust Bills of Materials (BOM's).
- Oversee financial analysis, reporting and strategic initiatives;
- Assist in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances;
- Prepare timely monthly financial statements;
- Perform month-end and year-end close process;
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting;
- Participate in year-end Review with outside accountants;
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings;
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls;
- Produce daily production, variance, and ad hoc reports
- Review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances and prepare reports
- Update standard costs and ensure accuracy in the Bill of Materials (BOM's)
- Prepare, analyze and report monthly gross margin analysis by customer, part number and production jobs
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine effects on costs
- Study and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
- Responsible for account reconciliation of physical inventories and cycle counts
- Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation, analyzing inventory for risk, and monitoring with support from internal stakeholders
- Work on special projects as required

Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or similar and five (5) years in manufacturing cost accounting experience is preferred.
- CPA or CMA a plus.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, and the month end / year end close process.
- Experience with various manufacturing software.
- Macola & Pulse a plus.
- Significant hands-on experience using an integrated ERP system
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory, and cost accounting
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required.
