SUMMARY : Under general supervision, keeps hospital morgue and autopsy room equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Brings the remains of deceased patients to the morgue.
Releases bodies to authorized persons, and performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : NOTE : The following are duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level.

- Willingness to handle remains of deceased patients.
- Answers departmental telephone calls.
- Keeps linen room stocked and order janitorial supplies, cleans specified rooms, and empties trash cans.
- Keeps records of bodies brought to morgue.
- Maintains morgue and autopsy room in a clean and orderly condition.
- May present body to family for viewing in a dignified manner.
- May transport patients on hospital grounds and render general assistance in patient's activity program.
- May transport patients to and from homes, clinics or hospitals via ambulance.
- Releases body to authorized person.
- Replaces body in refrigerator and cleans autopsy room and sterilizes instruments.
- Transports bodies of deceased patients from ward to morgue.
- Performs all duties as described in AHS Postmortem Care and Procedures policy.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education : High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum Experience : Six months of recent experience in a morgue or mortuary, assisting in the preparation of bodies for burial desired.
Required Licenses / Certifications : Possession of a valid California State Driver's License.
