Summary :

Under the general direction of executive leadership, the Program Director will plan, facilitate, and implement nursing strategies that support initiatives to advance nursing practice across all ambulatory / outpatient settings and align with CHST goals and strategic priorities.

The supported programs will include clinical practice, quality / process improvement, professional development, and evidenced based practice.

In addition, this Program Director builds relationships and fosters collaboration across all ambulatory / outpatient areas and key stakeholder divisions, including but not limited to Accreditation, Quality and Safety, Infection Prevention, Patient Experience and Enterprise Care Management.

Responsibilities :

  • Utilizes evidence-based practice and clinical skills to provide direction, supervision, and support for developing, educating, and administering new and existing clinical initiatives throughout all Ambulatory / Outpatient areas.
  • Monitors performance outcomes, process improvement, and changes in practice that impact clinical, financial, or operational outcomes and assists with developing action plans to address areas for improvement.
  • Consult with clients and partners to gain an understanding of current clinical practice workflows and recommend improvements to clinical / operational workflows that have an impact on patient care, balancing efficiencies with quality;

assist in developing solutions for patient care related issues; use critical thinking to create appropriate policies / procedures and guidelines for new processes.

  • Promotes consistent delivery of quality care, timely access to needed care, and understanding of education and continuity of care across the continuum.
  • Works with executive leadership to create organizational focus; coordinate available resources; align educational activities and formats;
  • align policies and procedures; develop new models of care; and foster key relationships to improve the quality; assess technology and information management capabilities;

transitional care methodologies; and reliability of clinical care across the system.

  • Collaborates with other clinical services across the system to identify and solve care gaps in Ambulatory / Outpatient care delivery.
  • Contributes to system level clinical policy and guideline development and review.
  • Participates and supports Professional Governance activities.
  • Leads Magnet initiatives in the Ambulatory / Outpatient areas.
  • May interact with medical leaders, administration, management, caregivers, ancillary staff, coworkers, vendors and agencies outside of Children's Health.
  • Assists in the development of clinical training and onboarding program for clinical staff, in collaboration with clinical educators.
  • Maintains professional mastery through continuing education and professional development.

How You’ll Be Successful :

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years Clinical experience Required
  • At least 3 years Leading project, initiatives, or teams Required
  • At least 3 years Pediatric Ambulatory Nursing experience Preferred

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Required
  • Graduate or advanced degree Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
  • Nationally recognized certification (i.e. CPN, AMB-BC, NE-BC) Preferred
