Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Hematology/Oncology (0.50 FTE)
We are hiring a 0.50 FTE (40 hours per pay period, eligible for all benefits minus disability) Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner for our outpatient Hematology / Oncology team, a collaborative and integrative group with all surgical subspecialties, palliative care, genetics, mental health, and a survivorship clinic.
This position will primarily be responsible for providing breast and cervical screening and follow-up coordination, as well as additional cancer screening education and coordination.
The main patient population served is women who are under / uninsured.
This position will also include possible participation at outreach events for the cancer center and in collaboration with the community, which includes no more than 3 weekends throughout the year (hours flexed for weekday clinic time).
While there may be some flexibility with the schedule, it is currently Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, all day Friday.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain and evaluate health and medical history; perform physical exam, conduct preventive screening procedures based on age and history;
Identify medical and health risks
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals and follow-up
- Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, physical examination and diagnostic testing
- Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests, therapeutic treatments; may prescribe, administer and dispense therapeutic devices and medications
- Participate in performance improvement activities as assigned
- Adhere to productivity standards established by the department
- Foster a service that is consistent with the family-centered care
- Serve as clinical resource to RN staff for trouble shooting, problem solving, and patient care issues
Our Cancer Center has long-standing partnerships with the Metro Minnesota Community Oncology Research Consortium (a nonprofit research program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute), participating community hospitals and clinics, and with the Cancer Trials Support Unit.
As a result of these affiliations, patients receive access to the newest therapies available for cancer treatment, symptom management, and cancer prevention.
