The Medical Group Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for the treatment and documentation of outpatients in the clinical setting along with other duties as required in the orthopedic clinic setting, operating room assisting, and covering local high school sporting events on occasion.
Volume in each setting depends on positions. Takes call on a rotational basis.
Job Requirements
Knowledge of / Skill / Ability to :
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Relationship skills
- Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to read, understand, apply instructions, and multitask
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients or the general public.
License / Certification
Must have a current Certification in Athletic Training (ATC) from the NATABOC. Must have a valid state license or registration or valid temporary permit as a Certified Athletic Trainer, issued by the Oregon State Athletic Trainer Licensing Board.
BLS certification is required through American Heart Association. Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.
Education and / or Experience
Must have successfully completed a program culminating with a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school. The Medical Group Certified Athletic Trainer will have completed an orthopedic or other relevant residency program.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance
Works inside and outside. Walking and standing much of the time while on duty. Subject to occasional stress in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.
Must be capable of providing treatments, some of which will require strength. Aware of proper body mechanics at all times.
Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds).
May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers, and hand and finger dexterity and hand / eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
Transfers patients to / from cars, stretchers, beds, and chairs, and ambulates as necessary. Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
