Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

As a member of PaLM, the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) works under the supervision of the Manager for the Laboratory in coordination with the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologists.

Staff in PaLM may be assigned to London Health Sciences Centre (University Hospital, Victoria Hospital), St. Joseph’s Health Care, or other sites as required.

We are hiring for multiple positions in different departments Core Lab, Microbiology, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Transplant Immunology, Anatomical Pathology, Endocrinology, Transfusion Medicine

Qualifications

  • Certification with C.S.M.L.S or equivalent
  • Current registration or eligible as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario with authorization to practice relevant specialties in Laboratory Medicine
  • Recent experience in manual assays preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare requirements
  • Demonstrated accuracy and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements :

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to :

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus / Diptheria / Polio; Meningitis
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
