Job description :
The Civil Engineer Project Manager will report to the Project Executive & collaborate closely with the operations team, engaging with staff at all levels.
The role requires someone who is resourceful, proactive, efficient, and professional. The position is tasked with ensuring the financial success & overall management of one or more multi million dollar heavy civil construction projects.
This role involves making key decisions regarding the project plan, and its implementation.
Job duties :
Plan & design civil construction projects according to project requirements & engineering standards, including experience with large diameter pipes (48" and up).
Ensure project quality control by reviewing designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contracts, and relevant specifications.
Work closely with field management to address & resolve issues between the project plan & on-site execution.
Approve all equipment, personnel changes, and requisitions from superintendents.
Exercise final authority in resolving issues related to project planning & implementation, and determine when to escalate matters to upper management.
Organize & plan project staffing, assigning the right personnel to specific tasks or project components.
Develop & manage the project budget to achieve target margins, ensuring accuracy in weekly labor, equipment, and monthly cost reports.
Conduct financial projections throughout the project by submitting precise cost & income forecasts.
Address changes in project margins & budget variances to maintain profitability.
Have a deep understanding of contract terms & specifications, and communicate time extensions & delays in accordance with contract terms.
Protect the company's interests, resolve conflicts professionally, comprehend the project schedule, milestones, and reasons for any delays.
Evaluate / select subcontractors & suppliers based on price, scope, schedule, terms, qualifications, and their history with the company.
Oversee the adherence of safety protocols, and cultivate a strong safety culture.
Candidate background requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or possess equivalent work experience, coupled with 5 years of experience in project engineering & management, specifically within heavy civil construction.
Possess relevant professional licenses, certifications, contractor's licenses, and demonstrate proficiency in software such as Primavera (P6), Viewpoint, HCSS Heavy Bid.
Completion of a 30 hour OSHA construction safety course within the last five years, or equivalent training.
Strong skills in building & maintaining collaborative relationships with both internal teams & external stakeholders.
