I-State Truck Center is looking for Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / Technician(s) of all skill levels for our Billings Montana location.

We are currently seeking Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Technician(s) to join our team who are specializing in Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers and more! Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, buses, construction machinery, and agricultural equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent diagnostic skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Diesel Mechanic / Technician Job Duties

  • Responsible for repairing, maintaining diesel engines and diesel components used in various vehicles and diesel equipment.
  • Accurately and efficiently diagnose complex diesel engine conditions and make necessary repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, foreman, and service team regarding those repairs.
  • Quality control work performed to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Keep paperwork updated and handed in upon completion.
  • Meet requirements for certifications.
  • Operate equipment to diagnose problems, inspect equipment for defects.
  • Repair and maintain heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozer etc. Caterpillar, Komatsu and Liebherr
  • Minimal welding

Diesel Mechanic / Technician Requirements

  • Valid Driver's license (Bonus compensation for CDL holders)
  • Must possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude, and be reliable.
  • Experience with other diesel engine platforms such as Cummins, CAT, & International are a plus.
  • Other mechanical skills desired but not essential : Hydraulics, Brakes & Suspension, Manual Transmissions, Drive Train, and Automatic Transmissions.

  • Must be physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
  • Technical degree or certification a plus.
  • MSHA
  • A knowledge of construction equipment maintenance, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, gasoline and record keeping

  • Positive attitude and the ability to set goals and accomplish them.
  • The desire to take advantage of certification opportunities to have the most updated product training.
