Anesthesia Technicians are a part of a centralized department that are responsible for monitoring anesthetic cases hospital wide including services such as : Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Critical Care, Neurology, Radiology, Pain Management, Emergency and Nephrology.
They operate under the supervision of the anesthesiologist and the specialty manager..
D u ti e s & Responsibilities :
- Perform pre-anesthesia examinations to determine safety and risk for surgery cases.
- Proficiency in implementing prescribed anesthetic plans for cases, from pre-anesthesia through
recovery, including monitoring throughout.
Perform patient pain assessments and develop proposed analgesic plans for cases using multimodal pain
management techniques.
- Understand and use CASE anesthesia forms in Smartflow and EzVet.
- Set up and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
- Competency in understanding anesthesia machines maintenance programs.
- Proficiency in implementing prescribed analgesic plans for anesthetic cases using local, systemic and regional pain management techniques
- Demonstrate the ability to set up, maintain equipment and to identify normal and abnormal ECG
readings.
- Understand hemodynamics of anesthesia-related hypotension and possess ability to troubleshoot anesthetic complications
- Familiarity with commonly used vasopressor therapy and when to implement during anesthetic procedures.
- Ability to set up and maintain a vasopressor CRI : Norepinephrine, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Vasopressin, Epinephrine
- Proficiency in accurately evaluate a patient's ventilation, oxygenation and acid / base status utilizing pulse oximetry, capnography and arterial blood gas results.
- On call expectations : Maintain rotation with the anesthesia on-call program.
Q u a l ific a t i o n s : Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with little or no supervision
- Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decision

Compensation is based on experience and will range between $25 and$32hr.
