Urban Youth Intern
Job Summary :
The Urban Youth Intern is responsible for providing direct skills training to individuals with disabilities relative to their placement in a Supported Employment, Skills Training or Individual Placement.
The Urban Youth Intern is further responsible for ensuring that support services are consumer directed, enhance individual competencies, promote meaningful relationships and maximize individual earning potentials.
Essential Functions :
Responsible for :
- Training, supervising and working with individuals with disabilities in a variety of facility and community based employment settings.
- Responsible for incorporating the values and principles of the Agency’s mission.
- Taking part in morning production meetings run by the Work Center Program Manager on a daily basis.
- Organizing the work area to elicit utilization of space based on workflow concepts and ensuring the work area is clean, safe and efficient.
- Providing the technical assistance to support the consumer on the job by understanding and maintaining the necessary equipment and supplies.
- Using consistent rate building techniques to help raise productivity and wages.
- Ensuring proper quality control requirements are met on all production contracts.
- Completing all necessary reports on consumer’s progress, production and daily payroll data.
- Implement meaning career enrichment activity programs when downtime occurs.
- Adhere to regulations regarding DDPC, OSHA, and DOL..
- Efficient and proper use and maintenance of assigned equipment and supplies.
- Development of a program participant’s work attitude by providing appropriate role modeling.
- Implementing components of each program participant’s Individual Service Plan.
- Keeping consistent data for behavior modification when needed and executing behavior modification plans effectively
- Evaluating program participant’s satisfaction with support services.
- Responding to consumer feedback by adjusting services as indicated.
- Attendance at case management meetings, as requested.
- Safety of the person under supervision.
Qualifications
Qualification / Education / Experience :
Interest in pursing career in the Human Service field
Mathematical Skills :
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, ability to create and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability :
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Communication Demands :
- The ability to read, analyze and interpret journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- The ability to respond to common inquiries of complaints.
- The ability to effectively present information to the Board of Directors, employees, program participants and members of the business community.
Environmental Demands :
The work is performed in a non-smoking environment. The work is normally performed in a temperature controlled zone, however, there are exceptions.
