The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be a Principal Project Engineer leading multidisciplinary teams of engineers (including systems, mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines) developing complex engineering solutions.

The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.

As a key member of the Avionics Test Engineering leadership team, the Senior Project Engineering ensures the successful execution of test solution projects from inception, through deployment to customers, as well as long-term support.

Typical test solutions include Optical, In-circuit Test, Boundary Scan, as well as COTS components such as switch systems, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and other related equipment coupled with custom software for performing Environmental Stress Screening as well as testing circuit card assemblies and top-level products.

This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success.

Organizationally, the role reports to an Engineering Manager in the Avionics Test Engineering organization.

What You Will Do :

  • Lead project technical execution and maintain performance metrics for decision making and continuous improvement purposes
  • Manage project scope (requirements and change requests) ensuring it meets agreed to commitments
  • Generate and maintain project schedules with understood dependencies, deliveries, and critical path
  • Utilize Earned Value (EV) methods for managing project budget (and schedule)
  • Ensure project meets quality expectations
  • Identify risks and opportunities and resolve them through proactive ownership
  • Prepare well-crafted presentations reporting project status to leadership teams
  • Develop Engineering estimates and proposals for potential projects and gaining organizational buy-in

Qualifications You Must Have :

3+ years of experience providing customers with quality experiences, establishing and maintaining effective relationships

3+ years of Electrical, Mechanical, Software and Systems engineering experience

3+ years of responsibility organizing a team or project

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
