The Patroller II enhances safety and leadership in ski patrol operations, supporting emergency response, safety enforcement, and guest assistance.
Education / Experience / Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Strong skiing and / or snowboarding abilities, capable of traveling safely in all snow conditions.
- EMT-B – Emergency Medical Technician – Basic, certified by Nevada EMS or National Registry.
- Current CPR certification.
- ATF clearance as an Employee Possessor.
- Working towards Association of Professional Patrollers Certification.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Compassionate demeanor for assisting injured or distressed guests.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks.
Contacts
INTERNAL : Managers and assistant managers of all Mt. Rose departments; some staff interaction for employee accidents.
EXTERNAL : Resort guests, NDF, NLTFPD, REMSA, Washoe County Sheriff & EMS Offices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Identify, reduce, and eliminate hazards on ski runs through signage, markings, and flagging.Provide first aid and transportation for injured guests and employees.Complete incident reports and perform investigations as needed.Train and mentor new Patroller I employees.Offer courtesy transportation to non-injured guests.Conduct search and rescue, avalanche rescue, and lift evacuation services as needed.Perform avalanche control and snow safety evaluations.Promote and enforce safe mountain behavior per Skier Responsibility Code.Accurately record work hours by clocking in and out.Marginal Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate with other departments to complete essential duties.Provide resort information and answer guest questions.Assist Patrol Supervisors with safety and training programs.Contribute to the overall cleanliness, orderliness, and efficiency of the operation.Seniority Level
