TEACHER

Security Benefit Academy, a premier early childcare and education center located in Topeka, Kansas, is currently seeking experienced and dedicated full-time Teachers to join our team!

Competitive starting pay based on experience and a $500 bonus, paid after hire, with an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Education or an earned Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Our Teachers are responsible for implementing an established play-based curriculum and executing an ongoing program of activities that meets the basic developmental needs and self-care skills of our children, as well as encouraging the children to move from vigorous physical activities to quiet activities.

Teachers must be able to maintain a positive, warm, and encouraging environment for children and interact with them in a positive and loving manner.

Also, the teacher must be able to maintain a positive and supportive relationship with parents and other associates. The Academy is open Monday-Friday from 7 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m.

Responsibilities :

• Develop and carry out appropriate developmental activities with the class
• Continuously supervise and interact with children, individually and in groups
• Establish and maintain open and positive communications with parents and associates
• Interact with parents through our app, email, and parent meetings to keep them apprised of their child's progress
• Implement Frog Street Press curriculum with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers or the Connect 4 Learning curriculum with our pre-kindergarten classes
• Adhere to all licensing regulations, as well as childcare center policies and procedures

Requirements :

• Minimum of 18-years-old
• Minimum of a high school diploma and you must have a Child Development Associate (CDA)
• 2-5 years Experience working with children at a licensed childcare facility
• A respectful and caring mindset toward children
• Basic understanding of child growth and development
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team
• A positive attitude
• Ability to be flexible
• Light to medium lifting required, and the ability to keep up with active young children and work inside and outside all year
• Able to use Microsoft Office to input data and communicate with parents
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Able to use hands and fingers to handle, hold and care for children or infants, to handle or feel small objects and controls and to care for the children
• Able to repeatedly reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, squat, climb or crawl
• Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and in case of an emergency, a 50-pound child
