Actalent is partnered with a large Mechanical Contractor in Cincinnati, OH and Actalent is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for that firm.
The Mechanical Contractor is headquartered in Cincinnati and primarily provides its services to chemical manufacturing plants but can also include hospital, data centers, and other large commercial buildings.
The HQ is in Cincinnati with satellite offices in Columbus, Dayton, Lexington, Louisville, and few other cities throughout Kentucky & Indiana.
As the Mechanical Engineer you will have the flexibility to sit out of the Cincinnati HQ, Columbus, Dayton, or Lexington office.
Your primary responsibility will be to attend 1 day trip a week to customer sites and provides engineering solutions to the projects they'd like for the mechanical contractor to perform within the building.
This would require you to travel once a week (a day trip) to a client site, do a walk through of the facility with the customer's PM team, understand the project, provide advice and suggestions of what the mechanical contractor can do for the project, travel back to your home office, create proposals and share the proposals with the client.
You will not be required to price out the project or even design the solutions. This role is mainly a client facing position providing engineering solutions to the requested project.
There may be some project management involved externally and internally. This role can also be a hybrid position if that is your preference.
Additional Responsibilities include :
- Attending company meetings to discuss work in progress, corporate issues, budget plans, business plans, and marketing plans on agreed-upon schedules.
- Engineer retrofit, repair, and replacement mechanical projects.
- Prepare engineering reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain relationships with existing customers and work as a team player with the members of management and the project managers.
- Develops multiple relationships with buying influences within the customer’s organization which may include the facility manager, project managers, or purchasing agent.
- Determine client needs and develop an engineered solution.
- Maintaining a sufficient knowledge of products and design criteria needed to adequately analyze and market the department’s services for related projects.
- Follow up with project managers on the status of engineered work.
- Identify problems on job site, gather information, and rectify.
- Assist Service Technicians with job site problems.
- Relay prospective solutions to clients.
- Get feedback from clients during and after job completion.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, executed Plans, and Programs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Equivalent Experience
5 years of on the job engineering experience performing the primary responsibilities listed in the job description
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems which would include chill water & hot water systems
Work Environment
Monday - Friday; 7 : 30am - 4 : 30pm but the hours can be flexible
Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days out of office)
You do not need to sit out of the HQ in Cincinnati, you are able to work out of the Columbus, Dayton, or Kentucky Office
