Position Purpose As a Physician-Pathology, employee is responsible for examining living and dead tissues to diagnose disease and identify how illnesses and injuries occurred.
Position includes participation in shared call, frozen sections, tumor boards, EBUS, and EUS. A component of the physician#s time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate.
Nature and Scope The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician#s area of specialty and experience.
The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments, questions to the appropriate management person, and follows administrative policies.
The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings and management decisions as needed, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff.
The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Candidates with training or special interest in GU, GYN, Neuropathology, Dermatopathology, and Breast will be given special consideration License(s) : Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license.
Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s) : Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
Provider may also be expected to be trained in and / or Board-Certified in a Pathology subspecialty. If provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Computer / Typing : Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), etc.
