Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Systems Lead Engineer to join our innovative team. In this pivotal role, you will lead a hybrid work team in the development and testing of an advanced simulation system.

A successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the migration of legacy code to the cloud, ensuring seamless integration and functionality in a modern computing environment.

This system, with its international applications, requires a visionary engineer capable of navigating the complexities of both legacy systems and cutting-edge cloud technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration, including design, development, and testing, of legacy code to a cloud-based simulation system.
  • Ensure the system meets deployment standards consistent with target environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to integrate system models into the overall development process.
  • Manage a hybrid team of on-site and remote engineers while providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Implement best practices for software development and validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to effectively document requirements and plans in a manner that aligns project goals with business objectives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to enable integration with third party software.
  • Participate in integrated test sessions with industry partners, academia, and customers / sponsors.
  • Contribute to project vision and milestone development. Identify tasks and support team initiatives to accomplish them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of proven experience in modeling and simulation.
  • Experience working with both legacy systems and cloud-deployed systems.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and familiarity with Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel to support technical presentations, testing, and integration.
  • Holds a secret or higher U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with OneSAF, BiFrost, or similar simulation systems.
  • Experience managing and leading software development teams.
  • Experience working with deadlines.
  • Certification in MBSE.
  • Experience working in artificial intelligence and unmanned autonomy architectures.
  • Experience with performance analysis or QA.
  • Experience supporting development projects for defense or aerospace technology platforms.
  • Active-duty military experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
