You will report to the manager of Data Center Facility Engineering and will be responsible for ensuring the operation, maintenance, and efficiency of Oracle mission critical facilities infrastructure.

As the facility engineer, you will coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure the continuous availability of the power and cooling in the data center.

You will create RFPs, review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, and preparation.

You will manage budgets, and spending for all data center M&E equipment. Your role will be critical to supporting our customers growth and ensuring we deliver on our promises.

  • Primary responsibility includes managing and maintaining data center electrical and mechanical systems to support 100% uptime of IT equipment.
  • This engineer will :
  • Manage budgets and coordinate with service providers and customers to ensure the continuous availability of the power and cooling in the data center.
  • Create Methods of Procedure for critical switching and / or operation of data center systems.
  • Support the customer by providing safe and timely response to maintenance and operations of the data center and will coordinate with the customers to deploy racks and ensure service providers execute maintenance and service in accordance of contract terms.
  • Troubleshooting is required when equipment fails to operate as intended.
  • Create change management requests for any critical switching events including following procedures and overseeing vendor maintenance.
  • Manage spending for Opex and Capex purchase orders and create budgets for annual expenses
  • After hours on-call duties are required for facilities emergencies and operational risk mitigation. Engineer must be accessible via phone and can travel to data center 24x7 as needed for on-call rotation duty

This position requires critical thinking skills. The engineer is a leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical / business skills in area of specialization.

May have project lead role. Applies professional, technical, and operational depth and experience to continuously improve service quality.

Good communication skills and familiarity with email and MS Office applications is essential.

Degree, relevant certification or equivalent with 8 years prior critical facilities management.

  • Review of MOPs and SOPs for accuracy, safety, and to assess the potential for business impact
  • Overseeing the maintenance activities performed by others to ensure they are conducted safely and correctly
  • Ensuring Oracle change management policies are adhered to
  • Undertaking the testing of electrical and cooling systems and identifying issues and working on solutions
  • Supporting the resolution of engineering incidents
  • Overseeing the installation of electrical and cooling infrastructure

Testing and Verification

  • Following existing procedures and play a key role in the development and improvement of processes
  • Analyzing and validate system data and reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Undertaking risk assessments of supplier or partner works
  • Scheduling and track completion of preventive and corrective work items
  • Drafting scopes of work and requests for proposal for vendors and service providers
  • Providing frequent reports on key performance indicators pertaining to space, power, and availability
  • Assist with developing dashboards and automation to support scalable solutions

Education / experience :

  • Associates degree or higher in an electrical or electronic discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in operating and maintaining Data Center facilities
  • Journeyman electrical license or higher

Hiring Range : from $79,000 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
