Shifts Available : Full Time (36 hours / week), 7P-7A

SEA Core / Float Pool offers a unique opportunity to RNs, who are looking to practice in multiple skill sets. Each shift can look different as employees will help serve units in need.

SEA Core / Float Pool supports three different skill sets. Critical Care : ICU, ED and PACU. Medical : Med Surg and Step Down.

Procedural : Endoscopy, Cath Lab, Interventional, Radiology, and Pre-Op. Level of expertise and skill sets will determine what units an RN will float to.

Job Description :

Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.

Essential Responsibilities :

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Provides a flexible workforce to supplement the inpatient and / or outpatient nursing units.
  • Assumes responsibility for the management and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Obtains a history and assessment and documents finding. Examples include but are not limited to, the chief complaint, allergies, current medications, system functions, and the immunization status of patients.
  • Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary.
  • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in the nursing notes.
  • Assists the physician in the examination of patients and in performing diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Monitors for side effects.
  • Delivers patient care competently and delegates to support staff as needed.
  • Interacts with families and patients in sharing the care plan as applicable.
  • Assists with coordinating hospital admissions to the unit as needed.

General Responsibilities :

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Graduate from an accredited school school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.

Experience : 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse , with experience in 2 of the skill-sets below for Level 3 SEA Core (see below).

License(s) / Certification(s) / Registration(s) Required :

  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate Compact RN License (eNLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) required within 3 months of hire.

The Level 3 SEA Core RN will be in a part-time or full-time status and commit to serving in two (2) adult hospitals (OUMC and OU Edmond) and 2 of the below skill sets.

Skill Sets :

  • Acute Care & Stepdown
  • Critical Care or PACU
  • Emergency Department
  • Procedural Areas (Endo, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.

Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Some computer skills.
