CDL Driver

Description

A CDL Driver will transport loads and / or company equipment of various types and weights from one point to another without damage to the object moved, property or personnel.

This position sometimes acts in conjunction as a Laborer, Machinery Mover, Millwright, Rigger and / or Operator.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of materials and / or equipment.
• Responsible for personal safety and safety of co-workers
• Pre-Inspect truck, trailer, and loaded materials.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of equipment
• Responsible for slings, cables, straps, and the equipment prior to lifting / strapping operations
• Occasionally acts in a combined capacity as Rigger / Millwright / Machinery Mover
• Other duties as assigned by foreman or management

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Valid Class A or B CDL is a must
• Must hold a valid DOT Medical Certification Card
• Safe driving record and history
• Pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals in the last 3 years
• Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of materials / equipment.
• 2+ years of CDL driving experience
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance patterns
• Willing to travel and stay out-of-town overnight if a job requires it; limited basis
• Previous knowledge and experience with moving machinery and equipment is a plus; forklifts, cranes, etc.
• Molding and fabrication experience is a plus
