Position
Summary :
This position functions within the nursing department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting by providing a variety of nursing services to all ages (cradle to grave) of patients.
Position Complexities :
This position works within a nursing team which consists of RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed clinical assistances. They are responsible to perform full assessments, prioritize patient needs and patient flow, and perform skills and coordinate care as ordered by
providers. In addition, the RN is expected to use critical thinking to work within standing orders to expedite care patient services.
As necessary, the RN may work in other nursing roles, so that departmental functions are covered on a daily basis. Performs duties in a responsible,
espectful and caring manner to promote effective relationships.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
Duty / Responsibility #1 ( 25 %) :
Performs initial assessments of patients who present for appointments or urgent care services. RN also provides telephone services including an assessment and advice of self-care & / or appropriate care options.
Assessment will included POV, history of present illness, vital sign
measurements as appropriate, gathering of gpra data, immunization status, preventative health needs and other tasks based on POV and anticipation of patient & / or providers needs.
Duty / Responsibility #2

RN may take direction from provider through written, verbal and / or standing order. Administers therapeutic measures, including medication (oral, topical, IM, SQ, Intradermal, and IV push and infusion), operation and monitoring of specialized equipment, as indicated by patient needs.
Initiates IV access, maintains site and discontinues IV therapy. Adding secondary IV therapies, which may require mixing of a concentrated medication solution or powder.
Duty / Responsibility #3 ( 25 %) :
Documents assessment, observation, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, health counseling and education provided to patients either in person or by phone.
Evaluates and documents patients comprehension of education.
Duty / Responsibility #4 ( 15 %) :
Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including adequate supplies. Upkeep of unit and equipment. Reporting / removal of any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards.
Adheres to infection control policy and procedures
Duty / Responsibility #5 ( 5 %) :
Maintains annual competencies including safety and infection control requirements.
Duty / Responsibility #6 ( 5 %) :
Performs other duties as assigned, including special projects deemed necessary to
provide comprehensive health services.
Baseline Qualification Requirements :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and qualified to take the NCLEX.

Pertains to Travel OB RN's : The nurse is on-call for 7 days in a row, 12 hours each day. The RN will receive a guaranteed 40 hours for the week.
The nurse will not receive on-call or call back pay since they are already "on-call". The on-call nurse will have 30 minutes to respond to any page and cannot leave the island.
On-call will rotate through staff every week, so each nurse will be on-call every 3 weeks.
