Job Description

As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing our global on-premise and cloud-based network infrastructure.

You will ensure high availability and performance for a growing 24x7x365 laboratory operation while proactively contributing to the future direction of our network technologies.

This role goes beyond day-to-day network maintenance, allowing you to take ownership of critical projects, provide input into technology decisions, and influence the strategic roadmap for network evolution.

Key Responsibilities :

Ensure Network Resiliency & Performance : Oversee and support both on-premise and cloud network infrastructures, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and resiliency needs in a dynamic environment

Proactive Network Maintenance : Implement, support, and monitor gateways, switches, firewalls, IPSec VPN tunnels, wireless access points, and IDS / IPS devices to ensure network stability, reliability, and compliance.

Ensure a seamless network experience for 24 / 7 operations

Problem Resolution & Preventative Measures : Lead network traffic analysis across LAN / WAN / SD-WAN to diagnose and resolve issues, implementing preventative measures that minimize downtime and increase network efficiency

Technology Roadmap & Innovation : Actively contribute to decisions about network technology, providing insights into hardware and software improvements that align with business objectives.

Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance security, performance, and resilience

Documentation & Compliance : Develop and maintain detailed documentation of network infrastructure, ensuring that all gateways, switches, firewalls, and other critical devices are properly accounted for.

Establish and refine network security protocols, ensuring they meet compliance standards

Security Optimization : Continuously review and enhance internal network security practices. Develop and track key metrics to measure the effectiveness of the security program and address any vulnerabilities

Escalation & Critical Response : Serve as the primary escalation point for network-related issues, leading troubleshooting efforts during outages or incidents.

Ensure effective communication during critical incidents to minimize downtime and service disruptions

Project Leadership & Ownership : Lead key network projects from planning through execution, influencing the technical roadmap and ensuring projects meet scalability, security, and performance goals.

Your expertise will help shape future network developments, driving innovation and continuous improvement

After-Hours Support : Provide after-hours and weekend support for critical network issues, ensuring minimal downtime for essential operations

Required Qualifications :

  • 3-5 years of networking experience with expertise in server and desktop technologies
  • Proficiency with firewalls (Fortinet preferred), SD-WAN (Aruba a plus), wireless networking, and AAA services
  • In-depth knowledge of networking technologies including IPv4 / IPv6, BGP, OSPF, VPN, L2 switching, VLANs, EtherChannel, and 802.1Q
  • Proven experience with cloud networking in environments like Azure, AWS, or others
  • Demonstrated expertise in high-availability and performance-driven networking environments
  • Experience with hybrid infrastructure (on-premise, private, and public cloud networking)
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Atlassian)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, HIPAA, FDA requirements)
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or similar
