The Yale Program on Stakeholder Innovation and Management at the Yale School of Management is seeking an experienced writer to support their general communications and publication needs.
Outputs include faculty communications, research articles, press releases, website copy, syllabi, curricula, event and meeting summaries, and formal event invitations.
Applicants need to be able to clearly and concisely communicate complex ideas to an audience of scholarly experts, MBA students, and C-Suite executives.
This person will also collaborate with senior leadership to develop a content strategy.
Responsibilities
- Writing drafts, editing, improving ideas, and revising documents, both in long and short format
- Proofreading and fact-checking
- Adapting research findings to various forms of consumption
- Attending meetings and events, summarizing or synthesizing information into various forms of consumption
- Versioning and flexing writing style and tone based on target audiences
- With guidance from faculty, interpret rich research and data into key findings, insights, and guides
- Own and execute content strategy
- Maintaining ethical and technical integrity in writing, properly citing research sources and references using a consistent style guide, such as APA or MLA

- Writing style that uses a formal, authoritative tone and avoids slang, ambiguity, and personal opinions
- Present information and arguments objectively, based on research and reasoning
- Ability to write in a structured and logical manner
- Understand foundational academic, business, and marketing writing principles such as inverted pyramid, five W’s and H, compelling headlines, newsworthy angles, and call to action
- Understanding of business and management foundations
- Comfort and experience self-teaching new content-area expertise to meet the needs of a given project
- Proactive anticipation of information needs
- Demonstrated collaborative style with a wide range of stakeholders

Requirements
MUST PROVIDE 3-4 WRITING SAMPLES from business journals or other mediums that reflect job the description (long and short format, understanding of writing fundamentals, etc.
