The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) is a public benefit corporation dedicated to improving human health and wellbeing through the built environment. IWBI manages the WELL Building Standard (WELL), a performance-based system for certifying features of buildings that impact occupant health and wellbeing. The organization commits to directing 51% of net profits from WELL Certification project fees toward charitable contributions focused on health, wellness, and the built environment.

Position Summary : IWBI seeks an individual passionate about health and wellness in the built environment, with expertise in HVAC or other mechanical systems. The role involves collaboration with researchers, project managers, and professionals across medical and business fields. The candidate will work within the Product Development team and coordinate with the Technical Programs and Support and GBCI WELL teams.

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct literature and technical reviews on improving human health via building ventilation and air quality management.
  • Evaluate industry feedback to develop WELL v1 and pilot programs, providing original insights.
  • Participate in interpreting WELL Building Standards as an air quality and thermal comfort SME alongside Technical Programs and Support teams.
  • Assess international codes, standards, and global green building rating systems for equivalencies.
  • Candidate Profile & Prerequisites :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in design engineering, architecture, sustainability consulting, or relevant sectors.
  • LEED Accredited Professional or EIT certification.
  • Knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience with sustainable building design processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to learning and working effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • PE license or registered architect status.
  • WELL Accredited Professional certification.
  • Experience with LEED certification process administration.
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences and forums.
