JOB SUMMARY

This person would exemplify Denny’s vision, mission, and guiding principles. This position is responsible for compliance follow-up with restaurants and regulatory agencies to ensure Denny’s brand standards are met.

The position would handle call requests from the field (regarding regulatory issues, Brand Protection Review (BPR) follow-ups, and visits / revisits by Steritech) to resolve issues, improve operational performance, minimize liabilities, and improve guest satisfaction while protecting our most valuable asset, our Denny’s Brand.

PLACEMENT IN THE ORGANIZATION :

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Food Safety & Quality Assurance and supports Quality Assurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Key Responsibilities)

Coach and support leaders regarding food safety, brand standards, regulatory rules / regulations, and operating procedures.

Take appropriate steps to ensure immediate resolution.

  • Follow up and gather information / data on calls from Operations, Steritech, and health departments and work as a liaison to ensure company Food Safety / HACCP standards are met in all restaurants.
  • Provide support and expertise to restaurants and internal departments to resolve issues, including health department inquiries and concerns, boil water advisory, pest issues, and other emergencies.
  • Develop and / or participate in programs with FDA, USDA, and State and Local Health Departments to meet evolving regulatory food safety requirements.
  • Reviews completed Brand Protection Reviews (BPR) and Health Department Reviews (HDR) for accuracy and correct application of standards.
  • Conduct follow-up on food safety performance issues identified by BPRs and / or regulatory inspections (in-restaurant and / or virtually).
  • Attain information / facts needed for allegations of foodborne illnesses, outbreaks, issues / trends in restaurants, and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Conduct trend assessments within the assigned area. Work with the Food Safety and QA team to recognize trends, query systems to retrieve information, and create reports for brand protection and operational needs.
  • Participate in area / regional meetings to share up-to-date information and trend reporting and delineate corrective actions needed as a team for improvements.
  • Conduct presentations / workshops as requested within assigned area(s).
  • Provide weekly updates on all responsibilities, projects, etc.
  • Works on special projects and other duties as required, helping to promote the department’s success.
  • Actively seeks to identify performance gaps and / or opportunities to improve systems and processes, leading to improved performance and / or efficiency.
  • Monitor health / food safety publications and websites to keep informed on current trends.
  • Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Manager of Food Safety & Quality Assurance

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :

  • A BS or BA in food sciences, food technology, or life sciences is preferred.
  • Food Safety Manager Certification is required.
  • Certified Professional of Food Safety CP-FS (Certified Professional Food Safety) is required (will train), or REHS / RS is preferred.
  • Food Safety Certified Instructor / Proctor preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in restaurant / food service operations and / or food safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Travel required (car and / or airplane).
  • Require standing and moving through restaurants.
  • Standing at times will exceed 45 minutes.
  • Ability to lift case products (30-50 lbs.)
  • Minimum 50% travel

The typical pay range for this role is :

Minimum : $78,000.00 - Maximum : $106,700.00

Please note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which the position falls.
