CAPIC is seeking a seasoned professional to join our diverse and dedicated Head Start team.
The Health Coordinator works in partnership with Head Start Teachers, Family Advocates, Managers and a team of health & nutrition professionals to support children in progressing towards their school readiness.
The Coordinator leads our efforts to ensure the program meets the on-going health, nutrition and safety needs of children while in our care.
The ideal candidate will have some combination of health, early childhood education and / or nutrition experience. They will have strong communication, organizational and critical thinking skills that will enable them to effectively collaborate with staff and support families through the process of obtaining needed services and providing required documentation.
The Coordinator provides overall leadership of Health & Nutrition component and ensures that CAPIC meets or exceeds Head Start Performance Standards.
They lead a team that includes a nurse, health specialist and nutrition consultant. The Coordinator maintains on-going systems to ensure that children are up-to-date with EPSDT schedule of care including oral health, the program exceeds health & safety standards, and health & nutrition are integrated in to the program’s family engagement work.
The Coordinator collaborates with the program’s nutritionist to oversee the program’s participation in and the adherence to the regulations of the CACFP program.
They ensures that the program meets the individual health and nutrition needs of children.
The Coordinator works collaboratively with full management team to develop and implement health and safety standards for the classrooms and throughout the Head Start program.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
PREFERRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :
- Two+ years of experience in early childhood, pediatric or public health setting
- Experience working in Head Start
- Experience with diverse families and communities
- Demonstrated program or project management experience
- Knowledge of EPSDT, CACFP and Health & Safety in Early Childhood setting preferred
- Strong computer skills with ability to learn, navigate and utilize PROMIS database to monitor health data
- Collaborative and flexible with a willingness to work across content areas (departments)
- Interest and enthusiasm for integrating health (oral, physical, mental and public health) in to all aspects of Head Start program
- Licensure in nutrition or health care
