ACCOUNTANT

Faith Comes By Hearing is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The Accountant works with management to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.

This role involves overseeing all accounts receivable and donations receivable functions within the organization. Responsibilities include maintaining strict adherence to correct identification procedures and confidentiality of information, as well as liaising with internal teams and departments regarding customer and donor contacts and accounts.

The Accountant provides administrative and financial services, including monitoring payments and controlling expenses.

Responsibilities include :

• Perform accounting procedures and related activities, with accuracy and diligence.
• Complete customer and donor account creation, and maintain reconciliation of payments and accounts. Resolve disputes on outstanding transactions, applications of transactions, and maintenance of source documents.
• Process checks, cash, credit card, EFT, ACH and wire donations and payments. Maintain adequate files for audit purposes.
• Record all stocks gifts, as well as gifts in kind, and receipt as appropriate.
• Record into the accounting software all customer and donor payments, financial donation transactions, account information updates, tax receipting processing, and pledge capture and acknowledgement.
• Research donation fund application and validate proper application of funds.
• Operate as an advocate for the organization in any donation or payment dealings with donors and staff.
• Interact with donors and customers to demonstrate a professional ministry image in all dealings with helpfulness and friendliness.
• Assist / monitor accounts payable transactions, including invoice entry, documentation, approval and payments.
• Complete general journal entries. Review general ledger for accuracy.
• Reconcile cash accounts and resolve discrepancies. Perform cost and account activity audits.
• Engage in critical aspects of the ministry's finances, ensuring organizational and personal confidentiality.
• Assist with other projects as needed, including backup for the Accounts Payable Clerk and Accounting Manager.

Requirements

Qualifications include :

Required :

• Minimum five years' work related to accounting. (preferred in an non-profit environment)
• Experience with working with large teams, or solitary position.
• High level of problem solving and analytic skills.
• Excellent and exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent grasp of accounting skills in conformity to standards.
