Job Description
Geotechnical Technicians at Gessner Engineering perform laboratory duties for the successful completion of the project.
Responsibilities :
- Perform soil, asphalt, and concrete laboratory testing
- Perform logging and packaging of soil samples
- Lab catalog samples and upload pictures of samples on the company server
- Perform tests and upload results on the company server
- Maintain a clean work area : pick up and clean all tools and equipment
- Perform materials handling and storage
- Possess the ability to fluently read and understand procedures
- Help driller with drilling by assisting with augers and sampling tools as needed
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on construction sites as needed
- Ensure that proper personal protective equipment is worn on all job sites
- Safely operate Gessner Engineering vehicles on the road and within job sites
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles in line with proper use, maintenance, and safety guidelines
- Communicate with the team and engineering teams as needed
Qualifications
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Licensure / Certifications
- Required - Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years
- Required- Must be 21 years of age or older to be eligible for company insurance
- Experience / Skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs., stoop, bend and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour workday in varying weather conditions at various construction sites with varying terrain.

- Travel / Schedule
- Normal work schedule is 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, with a mandatory 30 minute to one-hour break for lunch (unless not feasible due to work schedule).
In addition, you may be required to come in early and / or stay late for field and lab tests. Any departures from the normal work schedule will be issued by or approved by your supervisor.
- Uniform for this role is workwear denim, steel-toe / composite work boots, and Gessner Engineering issued personal protective equipment.
- Overnight travel to job locations 1-2 times a month
