Soliant Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team in the Copperas Cove, TX area.
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments across K-12th grade levels.
As a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in empowering students to succeed academically and thrive in an inclusive educational environment.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as sign language, auditory training, speech reading, and assistive technology to support students' communication skills and academic progress.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to facilitate the successful inclusion and integration of students with hearing impairments into the school community.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, accommodations, and technology tools to address the diverse learning needs of students and promote their active participation in the curriculum.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instruction as necessary, and facilitate the achievement of individualized learning goals and objectives.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages self-advocacy, independence, and positive social interactions among students with hearing impairments.
- Stay informed about current trends, research-based practices, and technological advancements in the field of Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field required.
- Valid teaching credential with endorsement or certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification in the state of Texas).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
- Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Passion for working with students with special needs, along with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of assistive technology tools and instructional strategies for supporting students with hearing impairments.
