Sr. Software Engineer (Nondestructive Evaluation)

SOFTWARE ENGINEER (NONDESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION)

We are looking for good people and driven, adaptable, resilient software engineers with experience developing software to accelerate quality, speed, and efficiency of manufacturing processes at SpaceX.

Our team is building out the next generation of in-process monitoring tools for SpaceX as we develop the Starship and Starlink programs while scaling up the Falcon and Dragon programs.

We have the unique opportunity to work across all programs at SpaceX and be impactful to them all. Our team consists of engineers developing best in class in process monitoring solutions for data collection and automated analysis.

We use statistical analysis, automated defect recognition, and machine learning to support and expedite the company's manufacturing rate and quality goals.

We also develop reliable, scalable, and efficient numerical analysis solvers to support these processes via simulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and own process monitoring software for a variety of SpaceX production locations and programs
• Design and write the software to connect hardware and tooling to process monitoring systems
• Work with data pipelines from production line to web application interfaces
• Work closely with simulation and machine learning experts to link model outputs to process inputs
• Deep dive into your users' problems to find and create efficient solutions
• Work closely with our production engineers and technicians to provide the best first principles solution to their needs
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 5+ years of software development experience;

OR 7+ years of professional experience building software

Experience in full stack development, software engineering, data engineering, or data science

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Programming experience in Python, C++, or similar object-oriented language
• Experience deploying applications to production with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience integrating sensors and automation with in-house solutions
• Experience with web development frameworks such as Flask, SQLAlchemy and FastAPI
• Experience working with stream data processing using Apache Kafka or similar technologies
• Front-end experience in React or similar JavaScript UI frameworks
• Database experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologies
• Good understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment and monitoring
• Good understanding of statistics, machine learning algorithms and frameworks
• Experience with Linux applications and server components
• Computer Vision experience in libraries such as OpenCV
• Machine Learning and machine learning operations experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
• Ability to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

Pay Range :

Software Engineer / Senior : $160,000.00 - $220,000.00 / per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations : job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
