Description
SUMMARY :
Provide leadership and coordination while providing an aligned instructional program to
ensure the maximum education for all hearing impaired students, grades K 12, in the Dallas Independent School District.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborate with staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process for student population.
- Provide academic support to Dallas Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD) staff and students.
- Schedule inclusion teachers, resource teacher, specialize D / HH classrooms and interpreters, in conjunction with cluster site school administration, into academic, elective and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with district wide diagnosticians to assure compliance and accuracy in planning student’s individual education plan.
- Conduct visits to all cluster site schools and provide observation information to building principal and program leadership team.
- Suggest innovative strategies to increase student learning.
- Assist teachers with data collection, disaggregate data, and support the development of SLOs (student learning objectives).
- Support team building with periodic deaf education team meetings in cluster site schools.
- Coordinate RDSPD program events.
- Design and implement training modules for professional growth.
- Present in-service programs on district initiatives for AI / Deaf Ed staff.
- Present / provide professional development on AI / Deaf Ed / Special Ed issues to General Education teachers.
- Define priorities and establish timelines for the staff.
- Coordinate with all departments within DISD as needed.
- Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district and school regulations and policies for special
education staff.
- Maintain a roster of all cluster students and teachers.
- Serve as liaison at each campus for parents and DISD staff.
- Assist with Shared Service Agreement with tracking PEIMS count.
- Coordinate and supervise summer program staff and students.
- Recruitment / Retention / Hiring of RDSPD staff.
- Coordinate with campus staff and administration student schedules.
- Co appraise with campus administration as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree from an Accredited University
Master’s Degree-preferred
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Valid Teacher Certification in Deaf Education
Minimum 5 years teaching experience
