The Early Learning Center is an opportunity to provide a pathway for Early Childhood and Elementary School Educators. Working at the ELC provides employees experience hours as well as the opportunity to grow their teaching skills.
Teacher Aides assist with the overall operation of the classrooms, supporting the Assistant and Supervising Teachers with instructional activities.
Teacher aides will also be engaging and interacting with children. Willingness to work directly with 1-5 yr olds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Interacting with children 1-5 years old
- Helping with diapering if needed
- Helping with meal time set up and clean up
- Supporting the lead teacher in the classroom
- Helping to supervise children in the classroom
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with children and adults.
- Physically able to do light housekeeping tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to work within the philosophy of the program.
- Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours of coursework.
- Ideally, 200 hours minimum prior experience working with children in a group care setting and one post-high school course in child development preferred, but not required.
- While not required, but highly preferred to have completed ECE 101 and ECE 103.
Qualifications
Students will gain hands on experience in a high quality early learning center to further their career in early childhood or elementary education.
Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education - This provides hands on experience working with the children as well as shadowing Assistant and Supervising Teachers with instructional activities.
