Job Overview (What Youll Do) :

We are looking for a consumer-focused, passionate and enthusiastic Store Manager who will be responsible for overseeing our first store in Portland! For you, success in business is about more than profit.

Job Responsibilities (How Youll Do It) :

Experiences :

  • Management of team and store.
  • Achieve sales goals and KPIs.
  • Foster a work environment for teamwork, productivity and employee engagement.
  • Train and orient team members utilizing Cotopaxis training framework; make recommendations for ongoing improvements to training approach and tools.
  • Recruit, hire and manage the overall hiring process.
  • Maintain consistent staffing levels.
  • Uphold company and store standards, policies and procedures.
  • Role model high performance and behaviors aligned with the Cotopaxi values and standards.
  • Address and resolve team members concerns and issues fairly and in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor team members work performance; deliver positive or constructive feedback timely; proactively partner with Regional Sales Manager and / or HQ partners as needed.
  • Participate in the performance review process of hourly staff.
  • Handle employment-related matters in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Ensure that every customer receives the highest level of customer service possible from a retail store.
  • Develop a best-in-class team of retail guides dedicated to an amazing customer experience.
  • Ensure all employees are educating customers on products and experiences.
  • Educate employees and customers with Cotopaxis mission and impact programs.
  • Inspire customers to get out and adventure by guiding them toward unique experiences locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Work directly with Cotopaxi Retail HQ to develop and grow the Cotopaxi retail experience.
  • Live the Cotopaxi culture and values and convey them to the customer.

Operations :

  • Own all aspects of the store operations and experience including the financials.
  • Establish and manage staff schedules.
  • Execute payroll duties and completing and maintaining team member employment-related records.
  • Assist with reporting and management-related administrative tasks.
  • Hire and train retail Guides to be effective in sales and the customer experience.
  • Lead visual merchandising efforts in the Cotopaxi Denver locations.
  • Oversee inventory management, including : receiving, ordering, and processing products.
  • Responsible for placing transfer orders via the allocation process for the Cotopaxi Denver stores.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of key styles.
  • Responsible for turning products to the highest efficiency.
  • Oversee cleanliness of all areas of the store including fitting rooms, back-of-house, and front-of-house.
  • Open and close the store. Equal time to be spent working at each location.
  • Operate the point of sale system with management permissions.
  • Identify and create operating efficiencies in daily processes.

Community :

  • Assist in the development and execution of building a community in the San Francisco market.
  • Seek out partnership opportunities with like-minded organizations and individuals.
  • Work with Cotopaxi Retail HQ to provide unique experiences to the customer in and out of the stores.
  • Oversee and execute events in and out of the store.
  • Guide customers toward experiences within the surrounding community.

Job Requirements (What You Need to Succeed) :

  • 2+ years of experience leading a team of 10-15 direct reports, ideally in a retail store environment.
  • A flexible schedule, able to work a variety of retail hours and cover shifts for your team when needed.
  • Excellent leadership skills. You know how to motivate a team and are someone people love!
  • An eye for detail. You're also organized and someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • A basic understanding of financial principles such as how expenses affect profitability.
  • Ability to move boxes and fixtures weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend / descend ladders to service fixtures, lights, and window displays.
  • Ability to move and traverse within the store space to provide customer service.
