Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050.

We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing.

Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV / AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs , and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

We are in search of new talent in the following position...

Position : Sector Director, Behavioral Health & Specialized Housing

The Sector Director is responsible for managing the coordination of all services and activities related to operations of residential programs to a particular client population.

The Sector Director serves on committees, oversees, and coordinates rental collection, budgets, and spending plans; they also supervise Program Directors and advise them on management issues.

The Sector Director assists in the writing of RFPs and developing funding for new and existing programs.

Horizon Program, comprised of scattered-site apartments located in the Bronx, enables single adults and families to live independently within in the community, as self-sufficiently as possible.

Minimum Qualifications :

Requirements include :

• A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years professional experience with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Master's degree with license in related field strongly preferred .
• Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work with others on group tasks.
• Must be creative in developing strategies, highly organized and responsive to work deadlines.
• have strong supervisory experience, budget oversight experience and be familiar with principles of housing, homelessness, behavioral health, substance use and other issues of client population.

Sector Director Principal Responsibilities :

• Oversee the management of program personnel.
• Oversee the management of program services.
• Oversee the management program of purchasing and property control.
• Oversee the management of program facilities.
• Serve as funding / regulatory agency liaison. Maintain community contacts.
• Prepare budgets and reports.
