Picker / Packer

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to accurately locate and retrieve merchandise and prepares it for shipment.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1-2 years experience in a warehouse distribution environment preferred

• Ability to apply basic mathematical principles such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and fractions

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty consistently and in a timely manner.

• Reviews and follows instructions on printed orders
• Compares identifying information for each order
• Retrieves items for each order
• Packages items for shipment eliminating the possibility of damage
• Assembles parts and / or containers for orders as needed
• Records and verifies information on warehouse document for each order
• Communicates order issues with Warehouse Manager or Team Leader
• Maintains warehouse in a neat, clean and organized manner
• Operates a forklift as needed (certification required)
• Operates a hand truck
• Stocks inventory and replenishes pick locations
• Follows safety and security policies and procedures
• Reports any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions to the appropriate individuals
• Completes task and / or projects as assigned

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to climb or balance;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to talk and hear to ensure safety. May be occasionally required to sit. Must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities are required including close and distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This position is performed in a Warehouse environment. The employee will work around moving mechanical equipment; may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles.

Indoor Warehouse temperatures may be affected by outdoor conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $16.00 - $16.00
