The Vice President of RFP Services is responsible for leading the strategy, creation, and execution of Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, with a focus on driving growth in Gainwell.
This role includes overseeing a high-performing team, ensuring cross-functional collaboration, and continuously improving the RFP process.
The Vice President will leverage deep industry knowledge and business acumen to develop winning proposals that align with the company's goals and ensure a competitive position in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- RFP Strategy and Development
- Lead the end-to-end RFP process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compelling responses to complex client requirements.
- Define win themes, competitive positioning, and value propositions, particularly within the medical technology sector.
- Oversee the development of complex price models and ensure alignment with client expectations and internal profitability targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, technical experts, and executive leadership, to develop high-quality, competitive proposals.
- Team Leadership and Growth
- Direct a diverse team of senior managers and contributors, fostering a high-performance culture focused on excellence and innovation.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to the team, ensuring continuous development and achievement of both team and individual goals.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and performance management of the RFP team, addressing performance issues and making personnel recommendations as needed.
- Build and enhance team capabilities through coaching, professional development, and sharing best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with sales and solution leadership to define pursuit strategies, pipeline processes, and bid / capture activities.
- Establish clear goals, methodologies, and roles for cross-functional teams working on RFP responses.
- Ensure seamless coordination across departments to meet submission deadlines and client expectations.
- Business Growth and Market Expansion
- Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, particularly in the medical technology industry, and positioning the company competitively.
- Engage with senior-level clients and stakeholders, developing trusted advisor relationships to understand their challenges and align the company’s solutions accordingly.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to shape long-term strategies for market development, sales priorities, and RFP-driven growth initiatives.
- Process Improvement and Innovation
- Identify and apply industry best practices and innovations to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the RFP process.
- Implement scalable processes and tools to streamline RFP development and ensure consistent, high-quality responses.
- Conduct post-submission win / loss analysis to drive improvements and inform future strategies.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in RFP development, bid / capture, or sales solutions, with a significant focus on medical technology or related industries.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams and managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and ability to develop competitive proposals.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with C-level executives, clients, and internal teams.
- Experience with financial modeling, contract negotiations, and project management.
- Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare, related field or other advanced industry experience.
