Job Summary
The approximate duration for this temporary role is 4 months. It is a part-time remote position for 200 hours. The Grants Writer works under the supervision of the AUL for Collections and assists with the grant writing activities at the library.
The Grant Writer is responsible for researching and preparing grant proposals that support the library's goals and meet funding agencies guidelines and criteria.
This position requires strong writing, data analysis, and project management skills, with an emphasis on clear writing and outcome measurement.
Key Responsibilities :
- Work to understand proposal requirements, funding agencies mission, and specific program objectives with the goal of producing more competitive grant proposals.
- Participate in proposal ideation meetings and attend grant planning and progress meetings.
- Research, prepare, write, edit, and assemble all sections (abstract, specific aims, background, research methods, facilities, organizational resources, etc.
of highly competitive, technical, and / or complex research grant proposals, including, but not limited to, grant applications to the National Archives and NSF.
- Generate high-quality proposals consistent with all policies and procedures of UCSF, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies.
- Collaborate with AUL for Collections, OSR, community representatives, and other partners on researching and preparing grant proposals.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
Department Description
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations.
UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Ability to use independent judgment, work well under pressure, seek and synthesize information, and communicate in a compelling and succinct form.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to establish timelines for grant proposals.
- Proven experience as a successful grant writer.
- Excellent writing and verbal skills.
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
