RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assesseach call situation to determine best course of action andappropriate protocol.
- Utilize medical equipment andprocedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suctiondevices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures andmedications as required to provide advanced medicalcare.
- Develop and utilize triage skills to provideoptimal efficiency during calls.
- Provide patient careaccording to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
- Lift and move patients as required to provide optimumcare.
- Communicate with receiving facility to receivemedical direction and to provide critical information.
- Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene and unitmanagement as needed.
- Drive the ambulance and providemap reading support to minimize call response time.
- Continuously maintain all required certifications.
- Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep itclean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the imageof AMR.
- Document activities with regard to patient careand billing completely to ensure appropriate information isavailable regarding each call.
- Follow policies andprocedures regarding out-of-chute times and turnaroundtimes.
- Consider patient status and insurance preferredfacilities when determining transportation destinations.
- Reports immediately to the on duty supervisor and / or accountmanager any incident involving a negative customer and / or patientinteraction.
- Read medication / prescription labels anddirections for usage in quick, accurate, and expedientmanner.
- Communicate verbally with patients andsignificant others in various environments to interview patient,family members, and bystanders.
- Discerndeviations / changes in eye / skin coloration due to patient'scondition and to the treatment given.
- Converse withdispatcher and EMS providers via phone or radio as to status ofpatient.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to successfully passPhysical Agility Test
- Aptitudes required for work ofthis nature are good physical stamina, endurance, and bodycondition that would not be adversely affected by frequently havingto walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times.
- Mustbe able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types ofequipment and other objects.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma orequivalent (GED). Some advanced education preferred.
- Current state Paramedic License and maintain currency.
- Possess a valid State Driver's License.
- Current BCLS,ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS Provider Certification andmaintain currency.
- Driving record in compliance with AMRSafety and Driving policy.
- Some past work experience,preferably in healthcaredesired.
WORKING CONDITIONS ANDMENTAL / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
WorkingConditions : Available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays,extended workdays. Long periods inside the ambulance.
May workindoors or outdoors with exposure to weather. Possible routineexposure to moderate noise levels. May periodically work in poorlylit environments in a moving vehicle.
PhysicalDemands : Moderate to extended amounts of sitting, standing, andwalking. Some repetitive motion activities. Routinely lifting morethan 200 lbs.
