Purpose

The Primary Care Mental Health Supervisor manage and oversee the front line Behavioral Health Consultant team in our primary care clinics, including providing leadership, clinical consultation and licensure supervision in accordance with the ethics, standards and scope of practice for the behavioral health profession in Washington State, the standards and expectations of the Neighborcare Health Behavioral Health Consultant role, and the organizations Mission, Guiding Principles and Goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct clinical and administrative supervision for Primary Care Behavioral Health Consultant team.
  • In partnership with operations leadership, responsible for recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, retention, performance management, and completion of annual individual learning conversations for the Behavioral Health Consultant tam.
  • Assures that staff are providing care to patients and performing work in accordance with professional and ethical requirements.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on Washington State behavioral health and counselor code of ethics, standards and practice.

Be able to transmit this knowledge to staff and help them apply it to individual cases.

  • Conducts Behavioral health consultant skills and competency assessments. Provides direct patient care
  • Coordinate patient care with other behavioral health staff, RNs, local Leads team and other organizational leadership to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
  • Model and mentor staff in appropriate problem solving and positive communications.
  • Participate in Neighborcare leadership meetings and leadership development activities.
  • In partnership with the Director of Behavioral Health lead and participate in quality care initiatives and process activities.
  • Participate in organizational planning and work with site lead team to plan for long term patients needs and resources.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

Required for this job :

  • Responsible for a team of Behavioral Health Consultants (BHC). Will meet with BHC regularly to support clinical needs, professional development, and overall engagement.
  • Actively promotes team-based care within multidisciplinary medical teams including comfort in communicating with medical colleagues about clinical care
  • Demonstrates excellent working knowledge of a wide range of behavioral health conditions across the lifespan and clinical spectrum
  • Demonstrates skill in assessing and intervening on patients with complex presentations, including those with comorbid medical and psychiatric symptoms
  • Ability to utilize brief behavioral health assessments to form diagnostic impressions and develop initial care plans. Ability to provide evidence-based treatments for behavioral health concerns in a brief format (e.

g., 30-minute sessions and shorter courses of therapy)

Ability to provide behavioral interventions to promote improved physical health and healthy management of chronic medical conditions.

Demonstrates good knowledge of substance use disorders and ability to provide brief screening and evidence-based behavioral interventions for them.

Demonstrates expertise in using contemporary, validated assessment instruments for behavioral health conditions that are appropriate to the primary care setting

Demonstrates experience in or willingness to become proficient in the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) model of managing substance use disorders.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of psycho-pharmacology

  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with persons of varied racial, educational and socio-economic backgrounds as well as individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to utilize interpretation services to provide care to non-English speaking patients. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with patients, families, co-workers and community resources
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional standards and follow the treatment policies and procedures of Neighborcare and of state, local and federal regulators
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of computers with the ability to learn and use required software programs, including clinical documentation in an electronic health record program.

Maintains all necessary credentials per agency and licensing requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Required : Masters’ degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field; or Doctorate or PhD in Psychology
  • Preferred : Health Administration or Public Health

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATIONS

Required :

A full, active, and unrestricted mental health license in Washington State and are able to independently bill for services.

License types accepted are Psychologist or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

The wage range for this position is minimum $96,.00 / salary up to $,.20 / salary maximum

Compensation will be determined based on years of relevant experience
