We are working with a large educational institution in San Diego seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Payroll Specialist to join their team.
Reporting to the HR Director, this is a key management position in charge of overseeing payroll operations and ensuring timely and accurate payment to all our employees and will grow into a Payroll Manager title within 6 months.
Responsibilities : Supervise their payroll team of three staff members. Managing the administration of the payroll function, including reconciliations and processing all payroll tax deductions.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and wage laws. Reviewing timesheets and resolving any discrepancies.
Coordinating and resolving issues related to payroll tax. Prompt preparation of reports for audit processes.Qualifications : A minimum of 5 years payroll processing experience.
Previous experience in the education industry or with unions is highly preferred. Proven track record in leading a payroll team.
Knowledge of current payroll practices and compliance regulations. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office.
