RN General Surgery (Full-time/Billings)

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviorsconsistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic anddepartment / service. Demonstrates positive, supportive, caring behaviors incommunication with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and others bothinternal and external to Billings Clinic.
• Utilizing a holistic approachincorporates the nursing process into the plan of care for the patient. Plan ofcare should include biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care,educational, and discharge planning.
• Plans, organizes, implements,evaluates and documents care given to all patients seen in the department. Careis consistent with Billings Clinic values / goals and Billings Clinicorganizational and departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains competency in allorganizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee orpatient safety standards relevant to job performance.

Identifies andanticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate correctiveaction.

Maintains appropriate theoreticaland clinical skills with application and patient relevance of commonly utilizedequipment specific to the General Surgery / CV Surgery Department and otherareas as appropriate;

pharmacological application; application of laboratoryvalues and radiologic findings with disease process or physiological status.

• Utilizes performance improvementprinciples to assess and improve the quality of patient care. Evaluates currentnursing practices within the General Surgery / CV Surgery Department to identifyopportunities for modification that would enhance professional practice,maintain or improve patient care while remaining fiscally sound.
• Identifies needs and sets goalsfor own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational anddepartmental requirements.

Maintains proficiency and knowledge within a rapidlychanging environment.

Performs other duties as assignedor needed to meet the needs of the General Surgery department or organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited schoolof nursing
• BSN within 4 year of hire

Certifications and Licenses

• Certification in an area relatedto general surgery preferred or ability to become certified within two (2)years of employment
• Healthcare Provider CPRCertification
• Current Montana state license asa Registered Nurse
