POSITION SUMMARY

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA's core values

  • Reporting to the Risk Control Energy Specialty Team Leader, support IMA insurance brokerage and risk management teams of Producers, Account Executives and Managers ("internal clients") servicing a broad spectrum of Energy industry Operators and Energy service industry sector companies ("external clients").
  • Focus is on the Energy team accounts and especially so within the onshore Natural Gas Site Construction, Drilling, Completions, Production and Work-over, and Service Contractors for the same.
  • Provide Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) services to IMA's clients support clients with development and improvement of HSE strategies, policies, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and limit incidents, operations risk, and liabilities across Operations.

Within the scope and limitations of our services, the RC Energy Specialty Team will strive to advise clients in ways to achieve the following Risk Control objectives :

  • Improve upon communication of PSM & HSE programs with client Operations teams;
  • Decrease the frequency and severity of claims;
  • Aid clients to maintain improved relations with state and federal regulatory agencies;
  • Reduce liability and the financial loss through risk management & HSE compliance;
  • Reduce Operations / Business Continuity risk;
  • Improve / maintain trust and reputation with the public, Joint Venture partners, and Investors;
  • Obtain the best insurance coverage for the lowest premiums; and
  • All total, "maximize potential for sustained ROI".
  • RC Energy Specialty Team members must continually strive to remain current and keenly aware of state and federal agency enforcement initiatives, trending industry developments, and changes in relevant and applicable regulations and industry standard practices.
  • Work with 1) internal IMA personnel / account service team to provide insight into risk-control activities and how clients are perceived by the commercial marketplace, and 2) with the commercial insurance marketplace to help advocate for IMA clients as part of the placement process. Risk Control will also :
  • help Producers and AEs understand the risks mitigation controls needed for clients and prospects,
  • help account teams facing a tough renewal by gathering needed underwriting information, and
  • assist withRFP Responses, to positively impact the client's Total Cost of Risk.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : include but are not limited to :

  • Provide HSE / risk management consulting support for a variety of engineering and compliance programs to reduce and mitigate frequency and severity of incidents, injuries, spills, and losses
  • Conduct and / or facilitate environmental and safety inspections (e.g., drilling and completions inspections, safety, environmental compliance, SPCC, E&S) of Operations, facilities, tanks, containments, and well pads to provide clients with constructive, value-added advisement to reduce at-risk acts and improve conditions
  • Perform critical review, opine on, and aid clients to develop various Safety and Environmental SOPs, Programs, Policies and Procedures (e.

g., Employee Health & Safety Plans, SIMOPS Plans, SPCC Plans, and Emergency Response Plans)

  • Support clients with Contractor Safety Management Programs and Expectations Manuals, On-boarding, Drug & Alcohol Programs, and vetting / risk evaluations
  • Support clients to ensure proper reporting of safety and environmental incidents and provide guidance and expertise with injury, accident, near-miss, and pollution / spill event incident investigations, root cause analysis practices, and loss trend analysis
  • Aid clients to develop / enhance KPI metrics and systems for broad employee involvement (HSE committee, risk assessments, safety observations process, safe work permit processes)and to benchmark performance
  • Monitor / stay current with state and federal agency enforcement initiatives, trending industry developments, and changes in relevant and applicable regulations and industry standard practices
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and conduct training and presentations with internal and external stakeholders regarding regulatory updates, industry standard practices, new technologies and services
  • Maintain key industry relationships and represent the IMA within relevant professional organizations
  • Mentor and support development of junior Risk Control advisors and specialists and develop rapport with internal and external clients of Risk Control and the Energy Team.
  • Work collaboratively within IMA to develop value-added Risk Control services and improvement initiatives and provide recommendations to Energy Team Leader and internal clients and / or stakeholders
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and perform interdisciplinary quality control checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in client deliverables

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS include but are not limited to :

  • Minimum of 10+ years of Energy / Oil & Gas sector related experience, preferably in HSE related management role with at least 5 years in an executive management or client facing role in Energy or Upstream E&P sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

A master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience

Applicants should have strong working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relevant and applicable to Energy sector OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards, EPA regulations, and DOT regulations and Energy related Industry Standards (e.

g., IADC, API, AADE, NFPA)

  • Professional certifications recognized by the Council of Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) and / or Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) - such as CSP, CHMM, QEP - is desired and a plus
  • Other certifications preferred : PEC Safeland, IADC Rig-pass, or OSHA #5810, OSHA 30-hr. General Industry or Construction, 40-hr.

HAZWOPER, Well Control, Emergency Response, and / or Incident Command System (ICS / NIMS)

Prior Insurance Risk Control and Risk Management sector experience (Energy specific) and training is a plus

Skills / Abilities :

  • Serve in varying settings (i.e., professional office environments and client facing meetings involving corporate executives, while other instances meeting in the field with Energy client / facility workforce).
  • Superior computer skills including knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and HSE databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to deliver public speaking engagements / trainings and analyze / summarize data for report writing
  • Ability to efficiently research health and safety regulations and policies
  • Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Strong customer service business acumen with the ability to understand the big picture financial and risk management objectives while remaining detail oriented
  • Demonstrate project management skills managing multiple activities with varying timelines and stakeholder engagement
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work from home / remote and stay engaged, focused, and productive
  • Ability to work independently, while also working well and communicating with all levels of the team

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

  • Site visits required - travel as needed approximately 40 - 60% with some overnight
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • May occasionally include work over weekends or travel on weekends
  • Potential to be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions
  • Ability to walk 1 mile regularly coupled with limited climbing fixed ladders and / or stairs
  • May require lifting of up to 25 pounds on occasion
