The Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide machinery engineering support and reliability improvements to the plant.
This position is responsible for reviewing and implementing site-wide standards and improvements to obtain optimum asset performance from rotating equipment.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Developing and applying machinery technical knowledge to support and improve overall equipment reliability including :
- Assisting the Maintenance Machinery Specialists with equipment troubleshooting and providing recommendations for identified machinery problems to assigned business teams.
- Elimination of repeat failures, including root cause analysis and risk analysis
- Evaluating current performance and improvements to develop and support short-term and long-term reliability plans, capital projects, and turnarounds through execution.
This task will include interacting with internal and external personnel in scope development, cost-benefit analysis, procurement of machinery, and field execution.
Ø Responds to abnormal plant operational events and provides engineering support for daily operations.
Ø Reviews and develops operating and maintenance procedures.
Ø Initiates Management of Change (MOC) documents and completes associated engineering review(s) for rotating equipment changes in assigned area.
Ø Educates and mentors others on technical details of machinery and rotating equipment best practices.
Ø Works with internal customers and groups in the support of day-to-day troubleshooting and performance to ensure machinery operability, environmental compliance, and process safety.
Ø Provides scope and technical oversight to external vendor shops that occasionally execute machinery repairs.
Ø During occasional high maintenance events (Turnarounds, Project Execution, Overhauls), an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
10 years or greater experience in a petrochemical or equivalent industrial machinery design, repair, and maintenance
Familiar with machinery performance analysis including compressor / pump efficiency evaluation, vibration analysis, and hydraulic analysis.
Familiar with national codes and standards such as API, ANSI, and ASME
Ability to manage a large workload and change priorities.
Understanding of basic instrument design and low voltage applications, construction, and operating principles as they relate to machinery monitoring & protection systems.
