GENERAL SUMMARY :
U nder the overall supervision of the Team or Clinic Manager, the Staff Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and implements treatment for assigned patients referred to the Occupational Therapy program in accordance with the state law regarding the practice of Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Staff Occupational Therapist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by his / her department pediatric through geriatric.
- The Staff Occupational Therapist must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span;
- possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs;
and to provide the care needed as described in the Outpatient and Occupational Therapy policies and procedures.
Type of supervision exercised : Functional supervision of COTA's and support personnel during clinical activities Jobs reporting to this position : COTA’s and Aides.
EDUCATION :
Minimum of Bachelor's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy required from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.

WORK EXPERIENCE :
New graduates acceptable.
One (1) to two (2) years Occupational Therapy experience preferred.
Certification in Thermal and Electrical Agents preferred.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :
Current licensure (or license eligible) as a registered OT by the PA State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs required.
Registration or registry eligible with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy preferred
Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Central Register (Childline) and Cogent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and interpersonal skills required for effective communication with staff, patients, and families.
Valid PA driver's license required for travel.
CPR Certification is required and must be maintained.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care appropriate to the age specific need and culture of the patient served.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Medium Work : duties require exerting 25 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift), and / or 10-25lbs. of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time) , and / or greater than negligible amount up to 10 lbs.
of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects.
Position involves bending, reaching, and stooping (occasionally in strained position) throughout shift.
Ability to transport self throughout facility is required.
Must be able to travel as required.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS :
Occasional exposure to blood and body substances.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Works in well-lit office, gym, and patient care areas.
