MAJOR FUNCTION :
The Labor and Delivery (LD) RN is committed to provide superior, personalized, and compassionate care to pregnant women, their newborns, and families.
This unit provides 24 / 7 care in a family centered manner. Patients cared for by LD RNs are women of childbearing age who are pregnant, and their newborns as well as to selected antepartum and postpartum patients experiencing complications during and after childbirth.
This unit is a safe and nurturing environment with consideration given to age and developmental level. As an LD RN, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient.
To provide care to childbearing women and their newborns the LD RN must use their knowledge to assess the physical and emotional needs of the patient / family and develop a plan of care that incorporates these principals.
The LD RN must have the ability to implement the plan, and to supervise others with the implementation and assess its effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Experience :
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with current licensure in the State of New Jersey as required by law.
You must be enrolled within six months of hire or rehire in a CCNE or NLNAC accredited BSN or MSN program (or foreign equivalent) with a graduation date that falls on or before the employee’s third employment anniversary date into a nursing position. *
- BSN or MSN graduates preferred
- Hired on or before June 1, 2013 - IMC
- Hired on or before August 4, 2015 IMCW
- Must meet all requirement of basic RN job description and perform independently for all elements.
- MB or Maternal child health experience preferred.
Certification / Licensure :
- RN Current registration with New Jersey State Board of Nursing required.
- National certification recommended within 3 years of hire preferred.
- BLS required.
- NRP required.
- ACLS required.
- Basic Fetal Monitoring required.
