POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Coordinator of Out of School Time (OST) Program is directly responsible for the oversight of programs and operations of the before school program at their school.

The primary focus will be the coordination of program development and implementation; staff development, and budget management for the before school program.

We operate Before and After School programs 7 a.m. to school start time and from dismissal until 5 : 30 pm including early release days, some vacation weeks and summer.

It is our mission to provide high quality, affordable, Out of School Time Care to Framingham children in grades Pre-K through five.

Through a collaborative effort with school staff and the community, the Assistant Coordinator’s role is to provide a high quality before school program experience to students that complement the education they receive in the classroom in collaboration with the coordinator.

With a strong focus on project-based learning, the program supports students by building and improving skill sets useful both today and tomorrow.

The assistant coordinator’s responsibility with the support of the coordinator is to create a fun, engaging and highly academic environment where students are expected to meet the same standards and encouraged to find their own path to achieving them.

Through new and innovative strategies like STEM, Service Learning, or Socio-emotional based clubs we work to create students better prepared for college and beyond.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :

Two (2) minimum years experience in working with school-age children in a supervisory role. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a degree in Education or related field.

Bilingual Portuguese or Spanish skills preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITY :

  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all programs in a school;
  • Demonstrate professional skills in the areas of curriculum planning; in-service training; program goal setting; federal, state and city funding sources;

grant writing and establishing procedures for evaluating the progress of individual children and staff. Ability to travel throughout the state of Massachusetts to meetings / training / workshops.

Willing to accept other duties as assigned by the Director. Working knowledge of youth development and current trends in after-school programs.

Ability to work with a wide-range of community partners in developing effective, collaborative partnerships. Experience working closely with school administration and faculty.

Ability to serve as higher-level administrator to guide and support staff. Experience working in community-based programs, with a clear understanding of urban issues and communities.

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, and Google applications.

Bilingual (Portuguese and / or Spanish) skills are encouraged to apply.

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet state objectives and the needs and interests of students.
  • Manage before school program budget
  • Supervise before school staff
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with district policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Manage and provide staff development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with before school staff.
  • Ensure a productive work environment at all sites.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by Supervisor.

The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as reading the typewritten material.

The work typically requires occasional in-district travel to attend meetings.
