Radio System Administrator
SUMMARY : The purpose of this position is to manage the County's radio system and public safety technologies within the Sheriff's office.
Will work closely with partnering agencies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Maintain radio system network and infrastructure for the entire county wide radio system and interfaces with other radio systems that provide public safety communications capabilities.
- Maintain / Administer Brazos ticket writers for patrol.
- Maintain / Administer camera video system.
- Maintain / Administer License Plate Reader system(s).
- Administer Public Safety Software (i.e. RMS, Quartermaster, MDIS, etc.).
- Maintain / Administer / Coordinate all other Law Enforcement technologies at the Sheriff's Office / Jail that IT does not currently maintain.
SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position may have supervisory responsibilities, budget responsibilities involving recommendations and system upgrades.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Significant knowledge of computer database information systems and properties in relation to official records management and law enforcement activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, other agencies and departments.
- Knowledge of principles of record keeping, and records management; legal and law enforcement terminology.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated to work alone and with others.
- Available 24 / 7 to respond to systems emergencies involving the radio system or public safety technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Undergo an extensive background check (Same as sworn).
- May be required to submit to a polygraph examination.
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic Texas Peace Officer's license preferred but not required.
- Minimum of three years' experience in Information Technologies preferred.
- Experience in managing a P25 radio system preferred but not required.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Position performs work in an office and vehicle. Health and safety hazards are minimal. Fine dexterity, sitting, and vision are constantly required.
Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
