FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Media and Communication Arts seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure track) to teach at the MPS in Branding+ Integrated Communications (BIC) program as well as at the Advertising / Public Relations concentration of the BA in Communications.
The successful candidate will be expected to be the Program Director of the BIC graduate program, serving as lead faculty member and providing supervision for its multiple tracks.
In this capacity, they will develop course syllabi, coordinate courses in the overall curriculum, integrate discipline content into foundation and capstone courses, identify and engage capstone clients, and be able to teach graduate courses in their track of expertise.
Administrative duties will include student advising, recruitment and admissions; managing BIC faculty and staff; supervising program communications;
directing student portfolio development; as well as serving as the industry and BIC Board of Directors liaison and fundraiser to the
program.
They will conduct research / scholarship and / or create a professional portfolio, write and update curriculum, provide academic advisement to students, network with industry professionals and other academic programs, recruit adjuncts and serve on departmental, division, and college-wide committees.
Undergraduate teaching assignments will also correspond with candidate's main
area of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
A terminal degree related to the advertising / PR Communications marketing field, such as M.P .S. or MBA, is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, to produce scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
In lieu of an M.F .A. / M.P .S., a bachelor's degree along with experience and achievements which are deemed appropriate will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of professional agency, marketing, or related brand experience with a successful industry track record in integrated communications including at least one, but ideally a few, of the following disciplines : strategic planning, brand management, tactical executions, branding, media strategy, PR, account management, creative development and execution, and content creation.
Presentation experience and a working knowledge of industry-specific digital / social advertising applications / analytics / measurement are essential.
Active membership in related industry associations a plus. College teaching experience strongly recommended.
