Job Summary : v The Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical fellow, or Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped provides evaluation and treatment to children identified by the school district as a child / student with a disability as outlined in Part 200 Regulation / IDEAv The therapist utilizes principles of growth and development in establishing guidelines for the implementation of the child’s IEP.
The Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical fellow, or Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped, provides services in conformance with all regulatory bodies governing this population, school policy and procedure and in compliance with the NYS Speech-Language Therapy Practice Act Qualifications : v Fully Licensed Speech Pathologist (MA, MS, CCC, TSHH and / or TSLD, Bilingual Extension)v Clinical Fellows (MS, MA, BE, CF Application to NYS and ASHA)v Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders (TSHH and BE) Responsibilities : v Maintain appropriate attendance for each individual child : o Sign-out sheet to include date child was taken out or a session was given in the class;
child was absent (#3), therapist was absent (#4), and / or school was closed (#6).o One card per child if they have a mandate of 2 times per week 1 : 1o A separate card per child with a split mandate (i.
e. 1x / 2 : 1 and 1x / 30 / 1 : 1)o Document accordingly on Attendance cardv Provide all necessary documentation within the required time frames including Monthly progress notes due on the 10th of the following month (ex.
October notes are due to Supervisor by 10th of November for Review).v File monthly Session notes in Main chart once reviewed by Supervisor.
Evaluate children on Caseload with known or suspected disabilities for Annual Reviews or Updates with IEP pages included as needed and Speech Authorization (only for Annual Reports).
Perform Hearing Screenings of children on caseload with suspected concerns and no Audiological on file. Follow-up with parent and teaching staff as to results.
Participate in planning / meeting with team members, the school district, parents and other members of the CPSE. Notify Supervisors, and TEAM concerning any suggested changes to IEPv Submit Annual Reports to Supervisor for signature as needed (CF, Bilingual Extension, TSHH and / or TSLD)v Participate in weekly speech department meetings.
Participate and / or lead Workshops related to Standard Practices of Speech and Language Pathology as requested by Supervisor.
o A Certificate of Completion will be awarded.o A Staff Development Evaluation to be filled out after workshopv Contact parent via telephone and / or writing when there is a change of therapist.
Use Telephone Contact form to document ANY conversation with parent or related personnel regarding this child needs to be documented.
Deliver Language Lessons once per month for a full-day class in collaboration with teacher(s). One-half hour session counts for one therapy session of a child or a group of two children.
Certified Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC) will assist in Mentoring TSHH, TSLD and / or Graduate studentsv Remain for Orientation and Parent meetings in the evening as needed.
