POSITION TITLE : Sanitation / Receiving Lead

ACCOUNTABLE TO : AssistantFacility Manager

CLASSIFICATION : 22 FT Helper

RATE OF PAY : Up to $23.70 / hour

Primary Objective :

To maintain the integrity of product safety and quality by ensuring that the product environment and associated areas are in compliance with regulatory sanitary requirements and facility standards.

Nature and Scope :

Emphasis in this position is ensuring all work activities under its scope of control are performed with attention to safety, staff hygienic practices and continuous process improvement to meet the highest standards of food safety and quality.

This position is responsible for providing effective training, development and work direction for department associates, and requires the ability to encourage individual and group effort toward department objectives.

Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs.

Essential Position Functions :

Supervise Sanitation Department associates to ensure efficient labor utilization and effectiveness in meeting facility needs

  • Execute assigned food safety, quality and continuous improvement activities to support SQF System as updated
  • Ensure all processes and procedures are executed properly to ensure a sanitary environment
  • Follow up to ensure proper task completion and adherence to facility and department policies and procedures
  • Communicate equipment / building structure issues that prevent sanitation efforts
  • Ensure corrections to mitigate sanitation issues are implemented and documented. Train and monitor to ensure no recurrence.
  • Ensure chemical control within the manufacturing environment
  • Ensure chemicals used in the facility for sanitation purposes are used as intended, at the correct strength and provide expected results.
  • Maintain a register of hazardous chemicals for SQF
  • Ensure proper disposal of empty chemical containers

Manage facility receiving, invoicing, shrink control, and inventory to ensure proper product control, and that gross profit goals are met

  • Supervise and assist to ensure accuracy and organization of receiving function
  • Take and document accurate inventory
  • Ensure proper product handling to control shrinkage and waste
  • Accurately count, record and report waste to leadership
  • Order sanitation supplies as needed
  • Assure that all sanitation procedures are efficient and cost-effective

Supervise facility safety and sanitation programs

  • Ensure all associates are properly trained in equipment use, maintenance, and sanitation standards, proper lifting and all related safety rules and procedures
  • Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) for cleaning of equipment and plant environment
  • Responsible for cleanliness and housekeeping of work areas including daily, weekly, and monthly on Master Sanitation Cleaning Schedules
  • Report hazardous conditions to the Food Safety Manager, Facility Manager or Assistant Facility Manager
  • Ensure proper disposal of empty chemical containers
  • Ensure no one under 18 years of age operates hazardous equipment
  • Conduct department inspections and maintain safety checklist
  • Ensure department compliance with sanitation related issues relative to outside sanitation auditors and public health inspectors
  • Ensure associates use personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical resistant gloves) as required

Perform Sanitation / Receiving Department Personnel Functions

  • Answer telephone calls promptly
  • Ensure that all sanitation / receiving associates are following the above standards by training and coaching appropriate procedures
  • Participate in interviews and the hiring process
  • Ensure all new employees are properly trained to ensure competence in positions and for possible future development
  • Conduct and ensure all probationary and regular performance reviews are completed
  • Provide individual and group guidance and encouragement toward department objectives
  • Recommend and administer corrective actions as appropriate
  • Communicate and work with Facility Manager as appropriate to accomplish above functions

Follow all facility and department policies and procedures

Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies

  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlines in the Food Safety Plan and any other programs that support the food safety, quality systems and other 3rd party audits
  • Ensure compliance with SQF standards, company policies, and government regulations
  • Support and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, and preventative maintenance program
  • Support and comply with GMP’s

Performs other duties as assigned or delegated

OCCASIONAL : Approximately less than 15% of the work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per work shift.
