The HVAC Construction Project Manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of projects, ensuring their successful execution from conception to completion.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise in HVAC systems, project management skills, and leadership abilities to effectively manage teams, budgets, timelines, and client expectations.
The Project Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality retrofit solutions that meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Project Planning :
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine project requirements and constraints.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop retrofit plans and specifications.
Team Management :
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary project team, including engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and support staff.
- Delegate tasks, assign responsibilities, and provide guidance to team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment to ensure project success.
Budgeting and Cost Control :
- Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts in alignment with client expectations and company objectives.
- Monitor project expenditures, track costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Implement cost-control measures to mitigate budget overruns and ensure projects remain financially viable.
Schedule Management :
- Develop detailed project schedules, milestones, and critical paths to effectively manage project timelines.
- Monitor progress against schedule targets, identify potential delays or obstacles, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to optimize resource allocation and minimize schedule disruptions.
Quality Assurance and Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement quality assurance processes and inspections to maintain high standards of workmanship and system performance.
- Address any quality issues or non-conformities promptly and implement corrective measures to achieve project objectives.
Client Communication and Relationship Management :
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and deliverables.
- Proactively identify client needs, concerns, and expectations, and address them in a timely and professional manner.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, transparency, and responsiveness.
Risk Management and Safety :
- Identify potential project risks, hazards, and safety concerns, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement safety protocols, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe working environment for all project personnel.
- Respond promptly to safety incidents or emergencies, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC construction, retrofit, or facilities management, with a minimum of 5 years in a project management role
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and installation practices
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- PMP certification or equivalent (preferred)
